FAQs
Q: I've heard that Marvin Windows
and Doors are very expensive, how much does a window cost?
A: This is dependant on several factors.
Product line, is the product part of the Integrity series
or the MTO series? Size, does the product fall within standard
sizes or does it have to be a special size? And finally
the options. Marvin Windows offers an almost endless array
of options to fit just about every design concept available,
from molding profiles, custom colors, galzing, divided lites
and so on. Please contact our sales department if you have
any questions regarding options.
Q: What is the ordering process?
How long will it take for delivery?
A: Just give our sales department a call,
we will ask a few preliminary questions and give you some
budgetary prices. From there we will arrange to visit the
site and take actual measurements to prepare the proposal.
Once the proposal is accepted we will order the windows.
Delivery time can range from as little as 2 weeks for the
Integrity, but most MTO products take from 4 to 8 weeks
depending on the options.
Q: I have a custom design in
mind, but haven't seen anything like it in the website or
catalogs, can it be made?
A: In most instances a design concept can
be fabricated. Some aspects of the design may need to be
revised for safety or structural reasons. If you have a
design in mind please send it to us.
Q: What is the warranty on Marvin
Windows?
A: There is a 10 year warranty on the product
and a 20 year warranty on the glass. For more details please
call us or visit the Marvin website at www.marvin.com

Labor FAQs
Q: Do you do your labor in house
or do you use sub-contractors?
A: All labor is done in house by carpenters,
apprentices and laborers trained by the owners Bill Jacobs
Sr. and Bill Jacobs Jr., who have a combined 75 years experience
in the window and door industry. All jobs are overseen by
the owners as well to ensure their standard of quality is
maintained.
Q: I've heard nightmare stories
about people having there windows replaced, dust and debris
all over the house, rubbish left at the sidewalk, etc. Is
this typical of window companies?
A: While we can't vouch for other companies,
it is not how we work. Before any work is started we layout
dropclothes and cover furniture with plastic sheathing.
Also when conditions allow we then set up a temporary plastic
wall. This all minimizes the amount of dust that need to
be cleaned. At the end of the day the work area and any
pathways are swept and vacuumed. And all rubbish is carted
away daily.
Q: Do you warranty your labor
and for how long?
A: All labor is warranted for 3 years.
Q: My 110 year old brownstone
has all the original woodwork, including the shutters. I
have been told that the windows cannot be changed without
damaging the woodwork, is this true?
A: Absolutely not! The way we install the
windows all existing woodwork remains undamaged and intact.
Please see the gallery for examples.
Landmark and Historical FAQs
Q: My house is in a landmark
district but it's not a landmark itself, do I need approval?
A: Yes. When a building falls within the
boundaries of a historical district, window replacement
must be approved by the Landmark Preservation Commission
(LPC).
Q: What are the guidelines?
A: All guidelines and information can be
found at the LPC
website.
Q: Do I need an Architect to
file or can I file myself, or can E-Z Tilt do it?
A: Anyone can file.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Currently there is no charge for filing
from the city. Depending on who is doing the filing will
vary. We charge on average $1,500.00 for filing an LPC application.
This consists of all required photographs, architectural
drawings and any requested samples is needed.
Q: How long does it take?
A: The time for the drawings, photos and
application to be produced and submitted is approximately
2-3 weeks. LPC can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks to approve
an application, and sometimes longer if there are any questions
or discrepancies with what is on file or if there is a backlog
at the agency.
Q: Where can I get the application
form?
A: All applications and literature can
be obtained through the LPC
website.
